I think we should just go back to Generation W and count backwards.
That is unless someone is actually counting. So, then, how long is a generation? If a generation is 25 years, and we're currently at Generation Z in the year 2000, then Generation A would be 650 years ago. So, then, Generation A would be dated at 1450. Maybe this is dated on Columbus (1492)! And, of course, it must because Generation Z because these are the End Times, ya know!

I believe demographers are in fact counting. They'll probably wait for the generation to show signs of character before naming it, like modern parents are always doing.

If that's the case, macklehatton, then why didn't they actually think up original names for Generations Y and Z, instead of glomming them onto Generation X?
*sigh* I'm with bilby. See my comment on Generation X.
(p.s. welcome to Wordie.)

For me, if you are going to name generations, it makes most sense to name them either by the major international events or important sociological phenomena that shaped their character (e.g. the WWII Generation, the Television Generation, the Internet Generation) or by the decade in which they came of age and made their mark (e.g. the Sixties Generation, the Millennial Generation).

Yes, stopping the naming was what I was aiming to say w/ my comment about Generation AA. Apparently too subtly, however. ;-)
P.S. Ditto the welcome, macklehatton.
